The ASE Steering Committee (ASE-SC) provides strategic leadership and governance for the ASE project. It sets the project's long-term goals and strategic direction, defines and maintains the software project's guidelines, and seeks support and funding to ensure ongoing development and sustainability. It represents the interests of the ASE user and developer community, guides and supports the Technical Sub-Committee on significant decisions, and ensures the project remains open, inclusive, and aligned with community needs. In doing so, the committee shields maintainers from difficult community decisions while keeping technical choices aligned with broader project goals.
The ASE Steering Committee uses the ASE-Committee mailing list for communication. It is possible to contact the committee using the mailing list, but it is mostly used for internal communication. Most questions from non-members should, however, go to the ASE-users mailing list. The ASE Steering Committee meets biannually. Minutes from the steering committee meetings are available further below on this page.
